Sukuna Gojo (五條スクナ, Gojō Sukuna) is a J-ranked <jungle> Clansman, and was the latest one before Saruhiko had achieved J-rank himself. He's interested in Nagare Hisui's plan.[4]

Appearance[]

Sukuna is a short boy with light green eyes and short, messy, very pale, grayish purple hair he styles with two white hair clips on each side of his head, the ones on his right side being more visible while the ones on the left are more concealed.

He wears a white sleeved shirt under a black vest with two rows of four silver buttons, and a dark blue tie with silver just below the tie's knot. Below, he wears shorts, dark socks with three white lines on the top, and black boots.

Personality[]

Sukuna greatly distrusts most adults, feeling that most of them are insincere and manipulative due to his childhood. Because of Nagare's influence, he also developed a cunning and manipulative side as shown when he used a video that insulted Mikoto Suoh and Tatara Totsuka as a bait to lure HOMRA so that Scepter 4 will have to arrive to stop them. [5]

Due to Nagare's interests in a more "exciting" world, Sukuna has a strong interest and enjoyment in his plan, and has a familiar, sibling-like relationship with Yukari Mishakuji, and quarrels with him in a brotherly fashion. Often, he idles about <jungle>'s hideout playing games, receiving Iwafune's teasing and scoldings, and feels at ease with the Clan's atmosphere. Given his small size. he fights dynamically and nimbly.[4]

He has a nasty personality towards his enemies, but is very much a typical child his age around his allies, expressing much impatience when he's initially kept from actively participating in the rising carnage surrounding the other Clans. This however does not make him heartless such as how Sukuna chose to save an L-rank clansmen, from being arrested by Scepter 4, because of how he tried to befriend Sukuna. He quarrels with Yukari in a brotherly fashion, and speaks casually with Iwafune, the eldest member in <jungle>, and even Nagare. Furthermore, towards his King, he's friendly and informal, rather than respectful.[6] While a stubborn sort, Sukuna truly does his part within <jungle> and enjoys participating in it. Deeply invested in gaming, he takes pride in how many JP he has and dislikes gaining easy or free points, always preferring a challenge.[7][1]

History[]

Sukuna and his parents

Sukuna and his parents

Sukuna comes from a wealthy, rather insensitive family. One day, he came across a stray, mixed breed cat,

and took it home to take care of it, however his parents disposed of it and replaced with a pedigree cat. Enraged, Sukuna yelled at them that he didn't want a cat, and the next day, that cat was also rid of, furthering Sukuna's aggravation. In another instance, Sukuna found out that a less wealthy friend he often played with was actually told to befriend him by his parents, and to also act in a humble fashion about their friendship. Unable to withstand living with his family, Sukuna ran away from his house at fifth grade and lived by himself. He used <jungle> app to give missions to people who didn't know him by the points that he collected and was able to avoid any kinds of pursuit and guidance.

Sukuna often teamed up with U-rank player Douhan Hirasaka, disguised as a masked clansman. One time, the two plotted together to challenge Yukari Mishakuji, which would escalate Gojo to J-rank status so he could meet the Green King. When the two attacked Yukari, he easily overpowered them, knocking Sukuna unconscious. Douhan fled, but unexpected returned to save the young boy. She took him to one of her many safe-houses throughout the city. Gojo was surprised to learn Douhan's gender, but was more curious why she returned to save him. When Sukuna asked what their next game-plan would be, Douhan responds that she was finished with the mission. When Sukuna said he was going to keep playing, Douhan told him not to die, for he still owed her one. [8]

When Sukuna challenges Yukari once again at an abandoned warehouse, he uses his JUNGLE points to purchase a wide variety of special abilities. While watching the fight through the eyes of Kotosaka, Nagare Hisui's own eyes sparkle as he tells his surrogate father that he wants Sukuna to join JUNGLE. However, he does not possess the ability to stop the fight, and fears that Yukari may kill the boy. Tenkei Iwafune issues a private mission to Douhan, asking her to interfere with the duel so Sukuna makes it out alive. Just as Yukari is about to strike Sukuna, who continues on even though he knows he won't win, Douhan tosses a dagger. Gojo wins and becomes J-rank. He collapses onto the floor in tears, saying this wasn't what he wanted. [8]

Upon becoming a J-ranked Clansman in <jungle>, Sukuna decided to see Nagare just so he could see the face of the person who manipulated everyone involved in the PDA online community, and almost seemed angry that Nagare wasn't what he expected. He snapped at Nagare about hating manipulative adults, but Nagare explained to him that he had to do so as a way to achieve his dream for reach a new world. When asked about his own dreams, Sukuna, upset, stuttered out that he has no dreams of his own, and Nagare asked him to instead watch his own dream come to life, offering Sukuna the chance to simply enjoy the game that came along with Nagare's dream. Sukuna gulped, then smiles confidently saying "If it's a shitty game I'll stop right away". After Sukuna asked Yukari why he was jealous, he told him that it was because of his young appearance, and that children will grow into adults one day, whether they like it or not, slightly annoying Sukuna.

"So all of you are just good for nothings" Sukuna smiled happily and thus became an official <jungle> Clansman.[9]

At first, Sukuna was a bit confused as to why Nagare are didn't have much "greatness" as a king. Nagare answered by explaining that he aims for a game where every human can use their own powers to fulfill their own responsibilities, desires and that there is no need for a king to be great.

Sukuna goes back to his game, snickering while saying it was weird, but that it was also not bad.

Return of Kings[]

Sukuna rested atop a rooftop in Shizume Town , humming. Looking at his PDA, he spotted Kuroh Yatogami and Neko.

He brought his PDA to the sky and activated the 'mission' while laughing mischievously. [5]

It's revealed that Sukuna created an insulting video about HOMRA, ridiculing the deaths of Tatara Totsuka and Mikoto Suoh , and forwarded the game to nearly everyone within the town.[9] He wanted to stir things up and get the Red Clan involved in the Green King's "game" to change the world.

He later sees Munakata's Sword of Damocles cracking, and commented that he is out of time, smirking. [5]

Later on, Sukuna is relaxing with the rest of the Green Clan in their secret hideout, playing a video game. He begins arguing with J-rank Tenkei Iwafune about laundry detergent. Nagare Hisui, the Green King, then gives another J-ranker, Yukari Mishakuji, a mission to kill Kuroh Yatogami, and to bring him Neko alive. Gojo accompanies Yukari as well, stating that the two have a difference of opinion as to whether Kuroh is strong or not. When the pair arrives on the school island, the Silver Clan's base, Gojo runs off on his own mission. He ends up fighting Fushimi and Yata, stating that he hates earning points when it's as easy as this. When the Silver King returns, Yukari's mission is called off, and he phones Sukuna to comes along with him. Almost bored, Sukuna is upset to quit such an easy game. [10]

During an attack on Mihashira Tower around Christmas time, Gojo and Yukari infiltrate the building in an attempt to clear a path for Nagare to steal the Slate. Sukuna breaks through a wall and finds the Silver King, where he comments he did not expect to meet the "final boss" so soon. He is knocked down by Kuroh and Neko, only to be bailed out by Yukari. The Green Clan succeeds in stealing the Dresden Slate.

When Fushimi joins Jungle, Gojo becomes rather bitter that the new-comer cheated to beat his high score. Gojo even goes so far as to challenge Fushimi to a fight, winner takes all their points. Yukari smacks the two on their heads, and Gojo skips over to the two Kings, chatting with them as equals. Yukari advices Saruhiko not to accept a duel with Gojo, stating that the young boy may even be his superior when it comes to fighting.

When Fushimi's traitorous motives are discovered, Gojo smiles evilly, taking great joy in being able to kill him. Sukuna knocks a weak Fushimi to the ground, and is about to strike a killing blow when Yata bursts in to save his friend. Gojo follows them and knocks the two down, confident that he will be able to beat them. Ultimately, Yata and Fushimi are able to defeat Sukuna, who falls through a large whole in the ground, his fate unknown until the end of the season. [11]

When Nagare and Mr. Iwa die due to the Slate being destroyed, Gojo is seen overlooking the scene atop a building. His arm is in a cast, as he fights back tears. He then follows Yukari just after looking back over his shoulder. [12]

During the end credits, Gojo is shown eating outside a restaurant with Yukari and Kotosoka. At one point, he's sitting alone on the side of the street, looking up to find Anna Kushina.

Gojo picks up a shard of the Slate.

Circle Vision: Right after the destruction of the Dresden Slate, Gojo returns to the area where Nagare last stood. He bends down with his broken arm to pick up a small fragment of the Slate, making a wish to return to how things were. This one wish transports several Clan members to a dream, where they are given the chance to relive their ideal world. Unknown to Gojo, he is caught in a time-loop with the Green Clan, getting to relax and laugh with them during the day and fight the other Clans by night. The immense power of his wish was able to bring Nagare Hisui and the Gray King back to life inside the dream-world, still unknown to Sukuna, who has no memory of their deaths.

One night during their battle, Gojo is annoyed that Yukari "skipped out" on fighting. Another time, he is the only one of the J-rankers (including Douhan) who enters the fray, as both her and Yukari realized the world is fake. When looking for Yukari, Gojo runs into Tenkei Iwafune in Jungle's home base, who offers to teach the kid a card game. Nagare tells Gojo that he will teach him soft-wear. Douhan is also there eating with them, where surprises Gojo, as she's not J-rank. As more and more people begin to wake up, Gojo is left oblivious. On the last night of the brawl, a white light appears, and instead of fighting Sukuna, Yata and Fushimi rush past him to follow it. Sukuna shouts after them that they can't leave, and that he doesn't know why, but they just can't. He ends up following them to the source of the light, which turns out to be a small child. He overhears the group discussing the world is actually a dream, shocking him in disbelief. The small boy is revealed to be the human embodiment of the Slate, and what was left behind after it's destruction. After Gojo's wish, the Slate invited one member from each Clan (Shiro, Seri, Yata, and Sukuna), to share in his dream. He then tells them if they want to leave, they simply have to wish their ideal world away.

Gojo returns with his Clan to Jungle's base, where he starts to sob as the Kings begin to fade. Mr. Iwa smiles and tells the group to take care, and to eat green peppers. Gojo ultimately wakes up, and sets out with Douhan, Yukari, and Kotosaka on their next adventure. [13]

Powers & Abilities[]

Green Aura: Befitting of a <jungle> Clansman, Sukuna possesses the green Aura, and enjoys its benefits of being a high-ranking Clansman. He's able to channel the Aura into his scythe and create the blade.[4]

Equipment[]

Scythe: Sukuna arms himself with a large scythe with a black snath. The scythe's blade is composed of his Aura. The scythe is taller than him, but he wields it with ease and fights with as much proficiency as Yukari.[4][6]
