Genji Kagutsu (迦具都 玄示, Kagutsu Genji) was the previous Red King, leader of the former Red Clan mafia syndicate RENGOKUSHA and the late predecessor to Mikoto Suoh who is the cause of the Kagutsu Crater Incident, which changed the topography of Japan at the time of its occurrence. This killed Genji Kagutsu along with 700,000 civilians and the majority of Scepter 4 Clansmen and all of Cathedral Clansmen.
Appearance[]
Little is shown of Genji, though from the ghastly and subtle appearance he makes, his characteristics are that of a demon.
Personality[]
Though not much is known of Genji, he is quite unhinged and spiteful, caring little for both the lives of civilians or his own clansmen, willing to wildly flaunt his power without regard for human life or his own, using cheap tricks to get the advantage. His blatant blood lust lead him to force his Weissman Level over its limit, causing a Damocles Down with the intention of causing a chain reaction of Kings and destroying the country.
History[]
K: Seven Stories Side:Blue - Sirius[]
K: Return of Kings[]
According to the Gold King, Daikaku Kokujōji, Genji is said to be a powerful king and can only be rivaled by Jin Habari and Tenkei Iwafune in combat.
Etymology[]
- The name Genji means "mysterious" (玄) (gen) and "show" (示) (ji).
- Genji's surname Kagutsu means "sword" (迦) (ka), "ingredient" (具) (gu) and "capital" (都) (tsu).
- Kagutsu (迦具都, Kagutsu), is derived from Kagutsuchi (迦具土, Kagutsuchi), the deity of fire, pertaining to the fiery imagery associated with HOMRA. Kagutsuchi's mother, Izanami, died of severe burns after giving birth to him; furious, Kagutsuchi's father, Izanagi, slayed him using his totsuka sword Ame-no-Ohabari (天の尾羽張, Ame-no-Ohabari).
